Privacy policy

Last updated 1 November 2026

This policy explains what SigmaField stores about you, why, and where.

If you learn as a guest

Your progress, your unfinished exercise code and your settings are saved in your own browser. They are not sent to us. Clearing your browser's site data removes them.

If you create an account

To keep your progress across devices, we store:

  • your email address, and your name: from Google or GitHub, the one you type when you sign up, or the one you set on your account page;
  • if you set one, your password, which is stored only as a secure hash that nobody can read back;
  • the lessons you complete, your points, your review questions and your weekly goal;
  • your exercise and practice attempts, including the code you submit;
  • if you choose them, your public name and whether you appear on the practice leaderboard;
  • the practice solutions you publish, and the solutions you star or report.

What other learners see

Nothing, unless you choose a public name. With one, learners who have solved a problem can see the solutions you publish for it, under that name. If you join the leaderboard, your public name and practice points appear on it. Your email address and sign-in name are never shown.

Sign-in and storage are provided by Supabase, and sign-in emails are sent through our email provider. If you sign in with Google or GitHub, they share your name and email address with us. Access rules in the database ensure that only you can read your records.

Your choices

On your account page you can change your name and public profile, set a password, or delete your account and everything stored with it. For anything else about your data, write to privacy@sigmafield.app.

Your code

Python in lessons and exercises runs in your browser, on your own device. It is never run on our servers.
